Goldilocks and the Fray

I am a frugal person. I try to cut corners and save money wherever possible. I have really wanted to highlight my hair for quite some time now. After going to DI to get some pants (cause I'm cheap like that), I went to walgreens and found some on-sale $5 highlighting cream. Yes! So I went home and did it!

While reading a book while I let it set in my hair, Kleresa comes up to me and says "your hair is yellow."

Lo and behold, it was....(I had to take off my bright yellow shirt, it just made it way worse. lol.)

Moral of the story, just go to the salon to get it highlighted.

DI jeans, $6. Haircolor: $5. Fixing the haircolor: $50. Yellow locks: Priceless.

On another note, I got to go see the Fray in concert on Saturday. Last time I went to a concert it was Hanson! haha! It was fun to go to a concert definitely. They aren't my absolute favorite band, actually they kinda make me feel depressed listening to them, I dont know why! But they put on a good show and they had an AWESOME light show/LED screen that prettymuch made the whole night worth it.

A little addendum to my previous post....

So my friend Shara made a comment on my last post that I wholeheartedly agree with, in that this world has become a woman-eat-man world, and women are told that they can basically walk all over men, be mean, witchy, etc. and she was somewhat refreshed that someone out there was stating that we are there to serve our husbands, and vice versa.

I love the way we are taught in the gospel about the roles that each gender plays, in that we each have unique talents and qualities within our genders that make us unique from each other, but that we are to use those talents and qualities for the benefit of each other and of those around us. Men and women ARE different, and rightfully so.

Anyway, I dont want to go on and on, just read my response to her post. ;) Men are awesome!!!!

How to Be a Good Wife

So apparently there are ways to be a good wife and a good Christian.....and this lady has it down pat. She made a list for us, and I thought you would like to know exactly how it is done.

http://bloggingpoints.blogspot.com/2006/04/how-to-be-good-christian-wife.html :

For one thing, never use frozen orange juice, because only whores use frozen orange juice.

A fat husband is a faithful husband, but you should always leave the table a little hungry so that you maintain your girlish figure.

If he isn't happy with what food you made him, don't get upset, but get up quickly and make him something different until he is happy.

Your entire day needs to be spent on cooking and cleaning because you are not a filthy pig.

Don't sit with him at breakfast, do NOT do this because you scraping your chair and such will distract him from his paper. And don't try to talk to him in the morning either, because your trivial matters aren't as important as his.

Never try to ask him what is going on with his private life if he wants to spend the night out doing stuff, because he has a right to his own private life. While he is gone do his laundry for him and clean up for him.

So I paraphrased for her, but can you believe this lady??? And people actually responded to her and THANKED her for this ridiculous list!! I really hope she was totally kidding.......I cannot believe this....and she tries to say that this is how the Savior would want you to behave as a good wife. GAG me. I sure hope it was a joke. lol.

Remembering Our Forefathers

On this Independence Day, I got to thinking about several verses in the Book of Mormon that reminds the Nephites that they ought to remember the captivity of their fathers, how the Lord freed them from bondage and led them to a promised land.

I always thought about how the Nephites were supposed to remember their father Lehi, and how the Lord led him and his little family with the family of Ishmael out of Jerusalem so that they wouldn't be destroyed and led away captive like the rest of the city. The Lord led them to a promised land--to America, where they built up a whole new nation. What a great blessing.

I also thought about the Israelites, how they were in captivity by the Egyptians, and how through some mighty efforts from Moses, but finally through a miracle of the Lord in softening the heart of the Pharoah, the Pharoah let them have a few days to practice their religion, at which time they were able to escape into the wilderness, and ultimately win their freedom to live peacefully and to worship God as they so desired.

Well, if we think about it, we ALSO can remember OUR fathers, and their captivity under the tyranny of the English government, and how the Lord led them to this promised land so that we, too, could enjoy the freedom of worshipping however way we might, and to enjoy the natural human liberties that everyone should experience. How great to be numbered among those who were allowed to live on this promised land that was kept from the hands of wicked men who wanted to use it for the wrong purposes. How blessed we are, and how humbling to know that we are the lucky few, and that we could never have enjoyed these priviledges without the Lord.

God Bless America.
